Industrial Relocation – Moving Production Lines and Plants Across Europe

Industrial relocation is the planned move of complete production lines, machines or entire plants from one site to another – covering dismantling, transport, reassembly and commissioning. NM Solutions delivers the full scope as a single-source main contractor. Depending on the size and complexity of the equipment, a typical project runs between 2 and 12 weeks; with a phased relocation, parts of production can often continue throughout. The scope includes site survey and engineering, professional dismantling, labelled packing, Europe-wide logistics including heavy haulage, reassembly, alignment and final commissioning up to production sign-off. We operate across Europe with a focus on the German market and serve industrial clients such as U.S. Steel Košice, Bühler Group, Mondelēz, ABB, Knauf, Liebherr and Tetra Pak. The goal of every project is the shortest possible downtime with full operability at the new location.

Our process

  1. 1

    Survey & Site Assessment

On-site capture of all machines, utility connections and local conditions at the origin and destination sites. This produces a complete equipment and risk inventory as the basis for project planning.

  2. 2

    Engineering & Relocation Planning

We build a detailed relocation concept with schedule, resources and lifting and transport logistics. Downtime is minimised and critical paths and permits are clarified early.

  3. 3

    Professional Dismantling

Machines and lines are disconnected, secured and prepared for transport in a controlled manner. Wiring, piping and setting values are documented to speed up later reassembly.

  4. 4

    Packing & Labelling

Components are packed for safe transport, protected against corrosion and clearly labelled. Consistent component coding ensures full traceability across the entire logistics chain.

  5. 5

    Transport & Logistics

Europe-wide transport including heavy and oversized haulage, customs clearance and route planning. We coordinate scheduling and loading so components arrive at the destination in the right sequence.

  6. 6

    Reassembly & Alignment

Positioning, levelling and precise alignment of the equipment at the new site per machine specification. Mechanical, electrical and pneumatic connections are properly reinstated.

  7. 7

    Commissioning & Production Sign-off

Functional checks, trial runs and fine-tuning up to resumption of series production. On request we support the ramp-up phase and operator training until full performance is reached.

Frequently asked questions

How long is production interrupted during an industrial relocation?+

Downtime depends on the size and complexity of the equipment and typically ranges from a few days to several weeks. Through phased relocation, weekend or shift work, the production loss can often be reduced significantly. We plan the entire sequence from the outset to keep the interruption as short as possible.

Do you operate across all of Europe?+

Yes. NM Solutions carries out plant relocations throughout Europe, with a focus on the German market. We coordinate dismantling at the origin site, cross-border transport including customs clearance, and reassembly at the destination as one seamless service.

How is the industrial relocation insured?+

Every project is covered by appropriate transport and installation insurance. We agree the scope and coverage amounts with you on a project basis in advance and provide proof of cover before the project starts. This protects your machines throughout the entire relocation.

What documentation do we receive?+

You receive complete project documentation including the equipment inventory, dismantling and assembly protocols, component labelling, and commissioning and acceptance records. On request we add photo documentation and conformity evidence for your internal compliance.

Do you handle the whole project or only individual services?+

Both are possible. We usually act as the main contractor and take responsibility for the full sequence from survey to production sign-off. On request we also take on individual trades such as dismantling, assembly or commissioning only.
