The challenge
A ~6-tonne industrial press had to be moved to a new position inside the same production hall — together with its adjoining conveyors — without damaging the machine or disrupting the plant’s schedule.
- Heavy, one-piece machine: relocate a ~6-tonne press as a whole, without breaking it into sub-assemblies.
- Live production plant: the move had to fit a tight window without holding up operations.
- Two relocations at once: the press was moved in parallel with a cartoning machine over the pre-holiday and holiday days.
Our approach
- 1
Survey & plan
On-site survey, load-path and lifting-point calculations, and a move schedule built around the holiday window.
- 2
Engineering & rigging
Rigging on heavy-duty skates fed by a forklift, with load distribution sized for the ~6-tonne mass.
- 3
Dismantling
Disconnecting and detaching the conveyors; the press itself was prepared to be moved whole, without breaking it into sub-assemblies.
- 4
Marking
Component- and connection-level marking so everything could be reassembled exactly.
- 5
Logistics
Movement on skates within the hall — no off-site transport required.
- 6
Assembly
Setting the press on its new position and reconnecting the conveyors per the markings.
- 7
Commissioning
Functional checks and return to production.
What made it unusual
The whole operation ran over the pre-holiday and holiday days and in parallel with a second machine relocation (a cartoning line) — two coordinated moves inside one tight window, so the plant lost virtually no working production time.

Machine
The press was relocated and back in production within 3 days, with zero incidents and virtually no impact on output — because the work was scheduled into the plant’s holiday shutdown.
