The challenge
A complete outdoor aspiration system had to be assembled from scratch on a prepared site — large units lifted and joined at height, with flawless sealing and alignment so it would run on commissioning.
- High-level outdoor assembly of oversized units — cyclones, separator hoppers, large-diameter ducting and access platforms — onto a single steel support frame.
- Precise mating of flanged joints and pipework by height, with units set for correct connection.
- Refurbished equipment with new power units (radial fans) — restored and new parts combined into one working line, with flawless sealing and alignment required for commissioning.
Our approach
- 1
Survey & plan
Site hand-over, an assessment of the assembly sequence and lifting scheme, and planning of the support frame, units and pipework.
- 2
Engineering & rigging
A Manitou telehandler (6 t capacity) to lift and position the cyclone bodies, hoppers and steelwork; an articulated boom lift with a 15 m working height for the high-level assembly. Units slung, raised and joined on the support frame.
- 3
Logistics
Unloading the delivered equipment and moving it across the plant to the point of assembly.
- 4
Assembly
Full build-up from scratch — support frame and access platforms, cyclones and separator hoppers, radial fans, ducting and distribution, flanged joints mated and everything levelled.
- 5
Commissioning
Connection and commissioning by NM Solutions — the system handed over in working order.
What made it unusual
